Funicular railway

The Municipality of Ljubljana requested that we create visual simulations of real conditions for the prospective funicular railway to the castle. The landscape in question is environmentally, and visually, sensitive, being a major landmark for the city of Ljubljana.

We were able to show, to professionals and laymen alike, how any changes would affect the environment and landscape in the future, through construction to completion. Our visualisations placed an emphasis on the important link between the city centre and Ljubljana Castle. Using further detail, we also presented all of the important elements that are essential for the funicular railway and its insertion into the surrounding environment.

The funicular railway project has raised a great deal of heated discussion in the public domain. For that reason we presented it to the public audience via the internet. In doing this, we managed to provide both defenders and opponents of its construction with an insight into the real situation after the completion of building works, assisting them in reaching more informed decisions. In creating the system we used the software tools Maya Alias/Wavefront as well as our own custom software solutions.
