Virtual Ljubljana

The aim of this project is to showcase the 'old town' in Ljubljana and to illustrate both its historical role as a central European capital and modern day attraction as a tourist destination.

It represent a realistic copy of the city within a virtual world where the old successfully meets the new. It has been created as a 3D interactive visual simulation, which we are continuosly adapting to function on the internet and thus enabling interactive visits for numerous visitors from remote places. Aplication is conceptualised in a modular manner, which allows simple connections to new town areas, or the upgrading of the existing ones.

It is intended for the use in tourism and historical presentations of the city and also distance learning. It can be also used as an atractive hi-tech visual didactic tool because its technology is similar to the computer games, which are very popular among youngsters.

We developed it in cooperation with the Ljubljana Tourist Board and the Municipality of Ljubljana. Project Virtual Ljubljana was placed on the main web portal of City Ljubljana. You are invited to visit the project at: www.ljubljana.si.
